Tips on How to Regift

So you’ve considered actually regifting.  Why not?  After all, it’s Christmas tomorrow and if you still have some people that you need gifts for, you may not have much of a choice now.  Here are some things to bear in mind as you go about regifting.

If there is one thing that I’d like you to remember as you go about regifting this Christmas, it is this:  do not give in to the urge to tell the recipient that the gift you are giving is something that you received as a gift some other time.  Believe me, this is usually how first time regifters feel.  They think that being honest is the way to go.  I believe though, that it is not a matter of being honest.  There is nothing wrong with regifting – it is the thought that counts after all.  Don’t ruin a perfectly fine gift with “honesty.”

Another thing that you should do is to ensure that the gift is apt for the recipient.  Do not regift simply because you want to have something to gift.  Think about the gift and what the recipient will think about it.  More so, make sure that the gift is in good condition.  If it has not been used, then it probably is in mint condition – if it was stored properly.

Still, you have to update the wrapping at least.  Being in storage for months does not do well for the wrapping.  Plus, it may have some markings on it.  How would you feel if you received a Christmas gift with someone else’s name on it?
